The 44-year-old brings many years of leadership experience in the health insurance sector and combines extensive sales expertise with strong technological competence. With this appointment, CSS marks the beginning of its next strategic period, during which it will further develop the customer experience, personal advisory services, and cross-channel customer support in a targeted manner.

As a member of the Executive Board, Elias Frühauf will be responsible for CSS?s Customer and 
Market 
division. This division encompasses all customer care and customer acquisition activities. In his new 
role, 
he will strengthen customer advisory services, further integrate the various contact channels, and 
drive 
digitalization as well as the use of artificial intelligence in sales and customer service.

Market Insight and Technological Expertise

Elias Frühauf brings extensive experience in the insurance industry and the healthcare sector. He 
spent 
more than a decade at Sanitas, where he led various departments, including Sales and Marketing as 
well 
as Customer Service. Since 2018, he has been a member of the Executive Board, overseeing the 
Operations and IT divisions.

More Than 14 Years in the Health Insurance Industry

Elias Frühauf holds a Master's degree in Banking and Finance from the University of St. Gallen. After 
professional positions at AXA and Credit Suisse, he joined Sanitas in 2012 as Head of Sales and 
Portfolio 
Management. In 2015, he assumed responsibility for the Omni-Channel and Customer Experience 
division, and in 2018 he was appointed to the Sanitas Executive Board. Among other achievements, 
he 
was responsible for advancing digital customer and service processes, developing modern sales 
models, 
and implementing large-scale transformation initiatives.

Elias Frühauf will assume his position at CSS on 1 September 2026. The 44-year-old succeeds 
Pierangelo Campopiano, who has joined AXA Switzerland as a member of its Executive Board.

The appointment of Elias Frühauf remains subject to the necessary regulatory approvals from the 
competent authorities.
